Carey A. Henderson
I want to thank you for your wonderful column "Mothers' Day Gifts" in the May 2005 edition of Parentwise. It is wonderfully written and touches on the chords of my heart. Mothers never do want to talk about the dark side of motherhood because we fear being seen as "bad" mothers- even feel in our own hearts that we must be doing something wrong if we feel these things. It is wonderful to read your column acknowledging that it is wholly human to have these emotions, and reminding us that we wouldn't recognize the good things if not for the comparison to the not-so-good. Thank you again for reminding mothers everywhere that we aren't and shouldn't be "perfect", and that in fact we often learn more from our imperfections.
